The Mexican is part of a clique compound of three characters made especially for animation purpose. Simplicity was mandatory for this kind of assignment, since I had to do the characters from scratch to the final production ready characters with simple rigging.  Designing and creating these characters was funny from the start on. I focused the design on his round forms, to create a generous kind of person. He is a very gentle character in a dangerous environment. To convey this to the viewer I decided to communicate with round forms, shapes, silhouettes and simple clean color scheme. Caricature and cartoony exaggerations are the best tools when creating this kind of characters.

I mainly used 3d man and Photoshop for this assignment, Zbrush helped me with sculpting the head and for creating some simple normal maps for the clothing. The rigging process was done with the help of the CAT system in the newer versions of 3d studio max.
